The switch capacity varies per model. The switches have a cut-in and a cut-out pressure. The difference between cut-in and cut-out pressures is called hysteresis, the pressure band or pressure differential. With most types, you can set the cut-in pressure and the hysteresis. Each switch has a range of cut-in and cut-out pressures that can be visualized in a pressure diagram. When used with a compressor, make sure that the difference between cut-in and cut-out pressure is not too small. This will result in a quick start and stop sequence that will cause excessive wear on the compressor motor and switch.
